abstract = "Geographic Information Systems need to generate an interpolating
surface to a set data points in the xy plane and corresponding
data values, taken from topographic regions. This surface can be a
piecewise linear surface associated to a triangulation of the
sample points. The well known Delaunay triangulation does not take
into account the data values, only the xy coordinates. The goal of
this project is to analyze existing algorithms for data dependent
triangulations and propose a new algorithm specific for geographic
information systems.",
